England captain Ben Stokes will miss the final test against India due to a shoulder injury, with Ollie Pope stepping in as captain. Fast bowler Jofra Archer is also rested. Despite the changes, England remains optimistic about their chances in the series finale at the Oval.

England captain Ben Stokes is set to miss the fifth and final test against India at the Oval due to a shoulder injury. This development follows scans that confirmed the extent of his injury after a stellar performance at Old Trafford. In light of the situation, fast bowler Jofra Archer has also been rested.
Ollie Pope will assume the captaincy in Stokes's absence, while Jacob Bethell fills the number six slot. Stokes assured that his injury would not impact the upcoming Ashes tour in Australia, requiring six to seven weeks of rehabilitation. England leads the series 2-1, offering others a chance to shine in Stokes's absence.
The England squad sees replacements with the inclusion of Gus Atkinson, Jamie Overton, and Josh Tongue, while Brydon Carse and Liam Dawson are dropped. Despite India's resilient performance at Old Trafford, Stokes remains optimistic. "We're still able to field an 11 that's going to give us a very good chance of winning," he affirmed, highlighting the squad's depth and talent.
