In a strategic shake-up ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Bharat Arun will take the helm as the bowling coach for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), marking a new chapter after concluding a four-year term with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), reports ESPNcricinfo. Known for his adept skill in developing pace bowlers both on the IPL and international stages, Arun is anticipated to have an expanded influence at LSG. Beyond his primary responsibilities, he will participate in talent scouting and facilitate the year-long progress of emerging fast bowlers within the LSG ranks.

Additionally, LSG is eyeing Carl Crowe for the role of spin consultant, a position he is well-suited for due to his transformative work with KKR's spinners like Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine. LSG is expected to issue an official statement regarding these changes shortly.

The role Arun is set to occupy was previously filled by Zaheer Khan, who acted as the team mentor during IPL 2025. Under Khan's mentorship, LSG finished in seventh place, failing to secure a spot in the playoffs. Meanwhile, Arun's initial engagement with KKR was a three-year deal, subsequently extended through the IPL 2025 season, during which the team faced challenges, ending the season in eighth position. This restructuring at KKR coincides with head coach Chandrakant Pandit's departure, officially announced on Wednesday.

While formal communication about Arun's exit remains pending, his comprehensive experience promises to add significant value to the LSG framework. His prior eras with the Indian national squad from 2014 to 2015 and 2017 to 2021 underscore his prowess in cultivating elite bowlers. Between national engagements, Arun was also part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's coaching team from 2015 to 2017, as reported by ANI.
