As India braces for the thrilling conclusion of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England starting July 31 at the Oval, skipper Shubman Gill is a mere 32 runs away from reaching an illustrious milestone of 6000 international runs across all formats. Gill has accumulated 5968 runs in 112 matches, boasting an average of 46.62 and a strike rate of 79.92, highlighted by 25 fifties and 18 centuries, with a highest score of 269.

Gill, the leading run-scorer in the ongoing series, has amassed a remarkable 722 runs in eight innings, averaging 90.25. His scintillating knock of 103 during the third innings of the fourth Test was his fourth century of the series, achieved under challenging conditions.

In achieving this century, Gill joined the ranks of Don Bradman and Sunil Gavaskar as the only captains to score four centuries in a single Test series. Unlike Bradman's 1947-48 triumph against India and Gavaskar's 1978-79 brilliance against the West Indies, Gill's feat comes on away soil in his inaugural series as captain. His four centuries surpass the previous record of three in a debut series, shared by cricketing luminaries Warwick Armstrong, Don Bradman, Greg Chappell, Virat Kohli, and Steven Smith.

Gill's 103 marked the first century by an Indian at Old Trafford in 35 years, the last being Sachin Tendulkar's iconic 119 in 1990. In the World Test Championship (WTC) era, Gill now boasts nine centuries, matching Rohit Sharma's tally, but achieving it in 67 innings compared to Rohit's 69, further solidifying his status in international cricket.
