Elvis Ali Hazarika's Remarkable English Channel Swin
Elvis Ali Hazarika has become the first Assamese to swim the English Channel in relay mode, completing the 13-hour feat. This marks his 14th sea-crossing. Elvis Ali Hazarika, an ace swimmer from Assam, achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Assamese to swim across the English Channel in relay mode, completing the swim in 13 hours. This accomplishment marks Hazarika's 14th ocean swim in his professional career.
In a statement following his achievement, Hazarika expressed his dedication and the challenges faced during the swim. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma joined in the accolades, describing the event as a 'momentous triumph' and a source of pride for Assam.
Hazarika, alongside his partner Rimo Saha, made history in September 2022 as the first Indian and Asian relay team to cross the North Channel. His extensive resume includes successfully crossing the Catalina Channel in the US and a solo swim from Elephant Island to the Gateway of India despite harsh conditions.
