Burnley FC, newly promoted to the Premier League, is transforming the fan experience by offering a virtual reality (VR) viewing option. This innovative approach allows fans to feel as though they are present at Turf Moor Stadium, all from the comfort of their own homes. In collaboration with VR specialists Rezzil, Burnley is making history with an immersive broadcast of their pre-season friendly against Lazio on August 9.

By purchasing specialized headsets, fans can enjoy a virtual seat in the stadium with full match day commentary and authentic in-stadium audio. Alan Pace, chairman of Burnley, highlighted the forward-thinking nature of this initiative, emphasizing its role in enhancing global fan engagement. 'Our mission is to provide the best experiences to fans, and by entering into the world of Virtual Reality, they can get closer to the game than ever before,' stated Pace.

Rezzil, a Manchester-based company known for its VR solutions in athlete training and performance analysis, has entered a four-year partnership with the Premier League. Andy Etches, Rezzil co-founder, expressed excitement about working with Burnley FC to deliver a next-generation football experience to supporters. 'Our technology has long been trusted by elite athletes to sharpen performance, and now we're using that same technology to bring it to supporters,' said Etches. 'It's a new way to watch football; it's like having a seat in the stands.'
