The 19-year-old chess sensation credited her coach, Rahul Joshi, her family, and her sister for their unwavering support in her historic win.

Deshmukh made history by becoming the first Indian woman to claim the coveted Chess World Cup, defeating Koneru in a dramatic final match decided by tiebreaks. Her victory secured her position as the fourth woman grandmaster in India, adding to the country's growing list of chess accolades. 'I am overjoyed by the reception and want to thank those who have been integral to my journey,' Divya shared with the media, looking visibly moved.

The final showdown saw Koneru slipping in the crucial second rapid game, losing a pawn in a decisive rook endgame. Despite missing earlier opportunities, Deshmukh capitalized on Koneru's misstep on move 69, securing the tiebreak victory with a score of 2.5-1.5.
