In a commanding display, Devon Conway edged closer to his fifth test century on Thursday, strengthening New Zealand's position in its first cricket test against Zimbabwe in nearly a decade.

By lunchtime on Day 2, New Zealand stood at 174-3, surpassing Zimbabwe's first innings total of 149. Conway, unbeaten on 87, was central to New Zealand's recovery after Will Young's early dismissal by Blessing Muzarabani.

Despite brief challenges from bowler Newman Nyamhuri, Conway's excellent driving ensured New Zealand maintained the upper hand. The series does not contribute to the World Test Championship standings.
