Malta has been selected to host the 2027 edition of the Commonwealth Youth Games, an announcement confirmed by the governing body of the event. This international competition will feature over 1,000 athletes aged between 14 and 18 from 74 nations competing in eight different sports.
The exact dates are yet to be released, but it is confirmed that the games will take place in late 2027. Sailing and water polo will debut, with athletics, netball, squash, swimming, triathlon, and weightlifting rounding out the program. Notably, this edition will feature an expanded Para sport program.
Commonwealth Sport President Donald Rukare highlighted Malta's athlete-focused proposal and world-class facilities as deciding factors in its selection.
