Olympic and world champion Noah Lyles made an impressive start at the USA Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, completing his 100 metres heat in 10.05 seconds. However, Lyles chose to withdraw from the semi-finals to concentrate on his 200m performance.
Lyles and fellow athlete Sha'Carri Richardson are already assured places in the world championships 100m event scheduled for September, owing to their previous victories in Budapest. Richardson recorded a season's best of 11.07 seconds in the preliminary round.
Meanwhile, DeAnna Price emerged victorious in the women's hammer throw, achieving a remarkable 78.53 metres. The championships are set to continue at Hayward Field until August 3, promising more athletic excellence.
