In an unexpected shift, Indian pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah has parted ways with the national squad ahead of the climactic fifth Test against England being hosted at The Oval. The announcement came from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), stating that Bumrah has been let go from the team as the much-anticipated Test series reaches its final showdown.
Bumrah, the standout performer for India with 14 wickets at an average of over 26, has faced challenges, notably with the new ball. His tour in England was less impactful compared to his stellar outing in Australia, where he took 32 wickets at an average of just over 13. During the Manchester Test, Bumrah's pace dropped, barely reaching 140 mph, and he was forced off the field due to an ankle issue sustained near the dressing room.
This series marked a strategic rotation, as confirmed by Coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Shubman Gill, limiting Bumrah to only three Tests. With India at 204/6 at day one's close in the final Test, and key players like Karun Nair and Washington Sundar still at the crease, India is vying to level the series from a 1-2 deficit.
