Suman Kumari delivered a stunning performance as India embarked on its journey in the U19 Asian Boxing Championships, clinching a dominant win in the women's 48kg category. Friday's event saw Suman overpower Chinese Taipei's Meng-Sin Cheng, advancing confidently to the next round.
The optimism sparked by Suman's victory was short-lived for the Indian contingent, as subsequent matches did not favor them. Aakash Badhwar, competing in the men's 50kg division, narrowly lost a close contest to Uzbekistan's Odilshoh Khalimov, recording a 1:4 defeat.
Further disappointments came in the form of Sarthi Saini (70kg) and Lokesh (80kg), who were both overpowered by their Chinese and Uzbek counterparts, respectively. Saini was knocked out by China's Haosheng Zhang, while Lokesh succumbed to Uzbekistan's Norbek Abdullaev, rounding off a challenging day for the Indian side.
