Former Indian cricketer and the current Champions League T10 commissioner, Chetan Sharma, addressed the recent pitch dispute involving Oval curator Lee Fortis and India's head coach Gautam Gambhir. In a conversation with ANI, Sharma backed the Indian team's management and their approach, expressing confidence in their ability to handle the situation.

The incident began with Gambhir's disagreement with Fortis over practice facilities and pitch access. The tension escalated as Gambhir pointed a finger during an animated exchange. India's batting coach Sitanshu Kotak intervened to mediate, accompanied by assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate, while Gambhir remained assertive. Despite being questioned about the altercation, Fortis chose to remain silent regarding the issue.

Sharma also touched upon the strategic decision to rest fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah for the fifth Test, emphasizing the importance of preserving his career over short-term participation. Sharma criticized the uproar surrounding Bumrah's absence, pointing out India's previous Test win without him and trusting the management and selectors' decisions. The BCCI confirmed Bumrah's release from the squad, marking the ongoing final Test at Kennington Oval.
