Defending champion Aaron Rai maintained a strong position at the Wyndham Championship, reaching 13-under through 13 holes in the second round. As the final PGA Tour event before the FedExCup Play-offs, Rai closely trails leader Cameron Young, who sits at 14-under.

The second round at Sedgefield Country Club faced a weather interruption due to thunderstorms, halting play with Rai just one shot behind Young. The impending completion of this round could see Rai moving into a rare defending champion's lead at the 36-hole mark, a feat last achieved over six decades ago.

Despite the weather challenges and his absence from the 3M Open, Rai is now focusing on strengthening his position for the Play-offs. He aims to improve his ranking to secure a spot in the further stages of the competition, targeting the second event for the Top-50 and the Tour Championship for the Top-30.
