Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal struck his sixth Test century, and Akash Deep celebrated his maiden half-century, setting a robust platform for India on Saturday. The duo contributed significantly to an overall lead of 281 runs by the tea break on day three of the fifth and final Test match.
Jaiswal and Deep forged a crucial 107-run partnership for the third wicket, as India reached 304 for six by tea. Ravindra Jadeja and Dhurv Jurel were left holding the fort at the crease. However, other Indian batsmen found it challenging to maintain momentum against England's bowling, led by Jamie Overton and Josh Tongue.
With India posting 224 in their first innings against England's 247, the team entered the second innings with a slender deficit. Currently, England leads the series 2-1, as the competition at The Oval intensifies.
