Legendary cricketer MS Dhoni on Saturday expressed optimism about the return of Ruturaj Gaikwad to strengthen the batting lineup of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the next IPL season. Gaikwad had pulled out mid-way through the previous season due to an elbow injury.
Dhoni took over the CSK captaincy after Gaikwad's departure last season, with the team finishing 10th on the table. "We needed to sort out our batting order, and with Gaikwad's return, we aim to fill the gaps identified during our last campaigns," Dhoni said during a private function.
The former Indian skipper acknowledged CSK's subpar performance over the last two seasons, outlining plans to address issues through the upcoming mini-auction. Dhoni also credited CSK fans for their relentless support, reinforcing the strong relationship he shares with the team and the city of Chennai.
