Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, addressing a sports conclave on Saturday, labeled India's failure to secure a single gold medal at the last Olympics in Paris as a 'matter of insult.' During the event, he revealed a new sports policy aimed at significantly boosting sports in the state.

Reddy emphasized the need for reflection, highlighting India's 71st rank in the Olympic medal tally despite aspirations to be a global economic leader. Citing his visit to South Korea, he praised their athletes' success, stating that a single university there produced athletes winning 16 gold medals, illustrating the potential for growth in India.

Aiming to embed sports into the state's future, Reddy announced the creation of the Young India Sports University and Academy. He also highlighted the need to engage youth in sports to prevent drug abuse, pointing to Telangana's sporting history and contemporary successes, while taking a subtle jab at the previous government's efforts.
