Boxing Ring Battle: Thakur's Bid for BFI Presidency

Anurag Thakur, the former Sports Minister, has launched another attempt to secure the presidency of the Boxing Federation of India (BFI). On Monday, his faction announced a legal challenge against constitutional modifications implemented by the Interim Committee.

The Himachal Pradesh Boxing Association has nominated both Thakur and its current President Rajesh Bhandari for the upcoming elections on August 21. Thakur was initially part of the candidates for the March 28 elections, but his name was missing from the final Electoral College list approved by BFI President Ajay Singh.

Bhandari articulated their recent legal challenge, questioning the legitimacy of changes made by the Interim Committee. Meanwhile, with Rajesh Tandon now appointed as the Returning Officer, the Sports Ministry is adopting a cautious stance, awaiting the outcome of ongoing court proceedings.
