Following India's commendable series draw against England, former all-rounder Irfan Pathan raised concerns over the performance of pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. Although regarded as the world's number one Test bowler, Bumrah did not meet expectations, playing three matches in the series which India did not manage to win.

Bumrah, who participated in only three Tests of the five-match series due to workload management, couldn't replicate his success after a promising IPL season with the Mumbai Indians. As India's second-highest wicket-taker in the series, he secured 14 scalps, but surprising gaps in his new ball performance prompted Pathan to rate him just 6/10.

Pathan pointed out specific instances where Bumrah fell short, including not securing crucial wickets when needed and seemingly holding back during key plays. Despite notable accomplishments, including a five-wicket haul at Lord's, Pathan believes Bumrah's top-ranked bowler status demands more consistent, match-winning performances.
