In a significant development for New Zealand Cricket (NZC), former women's head coach Bob Carter is stepping down from his role as the high-performance coach after a distinguished 21-year career. NZC confirmed the move on Friday, marking the end of an era for Carter, who first joined the board as an assistant Blackcaps coach in 2004.

Carter, originally from Norfolk, England, had a productive cricket career with Northamptonshire and Canterbury, appearing in 60 first-class and 55 List-A matches before transitioning to a coaching career. Reflecting on his journey, Carter expressed satisfaction in helping teams and players achieve success, especially during his tenure with John Bracewell's men's team and Mike Hesson's Blackcaps, alongside his leadership of the White Ferns in two major World Cups.

Bob Carter's departure comes as New Zealand's cricket teams are enjoying success on the international stage, with recent highlights including the White Ferns winning their inaugural T20 World Cup and the men's team's Test series triumph over India. NZC's Chief High Performance Officer Daryl Gibson lauded Carter's invaluable experience and enormous contribution to the game's golden era in New Zealand, emphasizing the respect he holds within the cricket community.
