Indian football sensation Manisha Kalyan took center stage at the ASMITA under-13 league for girls at Nehru Stadium, where she underscored the league's role in nurturing young football talent. Kalyan, the sole Indian to have competed in the UEFA Women's Champions League, described ASMITA as a 'unique platform' for aspiring female players.

Accompanied by Assamese talents Rekha Kataki and Dosomi Rowtia, Kalyan addressed the teams at the Guwahati leg of the league, celebrating ASMITA's efforts to boost grassroots football in India. She urged the participants to capitalize on the opportunities provided, sharing her dream of appearing in the FIFA World Cup and Olympics.

The ASMITA league's expansion reflects the Union Sports Ministry's dedication to promoting sports in Northeast India, a region recognized for its athletic potential. Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya announced a North-East-specific Games, further cementing the area's significance in India's sports landscape.
