In a significant move to enhance its cricket operations, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has unveiled three key appointments following a pivotal meeting in Dhaka on Saturday. According to ESPNcricinfo, Alex Marshall, Julian Wood, and Tony Hemming have been recruited for crucial roles that aim to strengthen the board's strategic initiatives.
Julian Wood, renowned for his expertise in power-hitting and his recent stint with Sri Lanka Cricket, will serve as a specialist batting coach for the BCB. His appointment is set for a three-month period. Meanwhile, Alex Marshall, formerly the ICC's anti-corruption unit general manager, joins the BCB as a consultant for the anti-corruption department for a year. BCB media committee chairman Iftekhar Rahman has high expectations for Marshall to 'enhance' the unit's operations, especially as the ICC's integrity unit is set to oversee anti-corruption strategies amid ongoing investigations into corruption in the BPL.
Additionally, Tony Hemming has been reappointed to the BCB as the head of turf management for two years, overseeing all international venues and curators. His return raises questions about the role of current curator Gamini Silva, who has received a one-year extension. These appointments coincide with the BCB introducing Mymensingh as a new first-class team in place of Dhaka Metropolis. Rahman noted Mymensingh's introduction to the NCL first-class tournament while confirming their T20 participation from the subsequent edition.
