Azharuddin Celebrates Kirmani as World's Best Wicketkeeper

Former Indian cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin has lauded Syed Kirmani as the greatest wicketkeeper globally, particularly noting his critical role in India's triumph at the 1983 World Cup. Speaking at the launch of Kirmani's autobiography, "Stumped," in Telangana, Azharuddin emphasized the former wicketkeeper's precision against spin bowlers.
Azharuddin, who served as a pivotal player for India in 99 Tests and 334 ODIs, remarked, "He is the number one wicket-keeper in the world. Such a wicket-keeper was never born." He highlighted Kirmani's achievements, such as supporting Kapil Dev's record 175-run innings with a vital 24-run contribution and excelling with 14 dismissals in the 1983 World Cup tournament.
In addition to celebrating Kirmani's legacy, Azharuddin praised fellow Hyderabadi cricketer Mohammed Siraj for his recent outstanding performance during the India-England series, which concluded with a 2-2 draw. Azharuddin noted Siraj's achievements as the lead wicket-taker, hailing his effective comeback spell at The Oval.
