Crystal Palace's UEFA Battle: Could Exit Devalue Europa League?

Crystal Palace's goalkeeper Dean Henderson has voiced his concerns regarding the potential drop from the Europa League, suggesting it would 'devalue the competition.' The team's participation is in jeopardy following a UEFA ruling linked to multi-club ownership conflicts, with a final decision pending from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Palace found themselves demoted to the Conference League after UEFA's Club Financial Control Body ruled in July that the club's ownership structure violated rules. This decision was based on John Textor, president of Eagle Football Group, owning stakes in both Crystal Palace and the Ligue 1 club Lyon. In contrast, Lyon was allowed to compete in the UEFA tournaments.

Despite a successful season, capped by winning the FA Cup, Palace missed the March deadline to reconcile their ownership issues before being ousted from the Europa League. The club's appeal was heard behind closed doors on August 8, with a verdict expected soon. Henderson remains hopeful for a favorable outcome that ensures their rightful place in the Europa League.
