Jammu and Kashmir's contingent has completed a rigorous 21-day camp to gear up for the Khelo India Water Sports Festival (KIWSF), with hopes pinned on capturing national attention through stellar performances. The three-day event, kicking off on August 21, will showcase rowing, canoeing, and kayaking, drawing more than 400 athletes from 36 states and Union Territories to Dal Lake.

Among the hopefuls is Muhammad Abbas Kand from Rainawari, Srinagar, poised to compete in light-weight rowing doubles. Abbas aims to secure a gold medal, expressing excitement over the games being held at Dal Lake, aiding in promoting water sports within the region.

Teammates Irtiza Ali and Zahid Hussain also prepare for their events, striving for improvement in their respective categories. The festival not only sets a competitive stage but also an opportunity for athletes to learn by racing against Team India water sports athletes.
