Former Indian cricketer Surinder Khanna has voiced his opinion over Yashasvi Jaiswal's absence from the main Asia Cup squad, despite his exceptional batting track record. Khanna suggests that Jaiswal's fielding skills may have been a factor in relegating him to the reserves, despite his consistent performances in the IPL.

Jaiswal, who was a backup opener in last year's T20 World Cup, has been notable for his batting prowess, accumulating 723 runs in 23 T20Is. However, his fielding, particularly evidenced by dropped catches during England tours, could not secure him a spot in the team of 15. Khanna remains optimistic about Jaiswal's future in T20I cricket.

In other squad news, Khanna applauded the return of pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah, highlighting his strategic importance in the shorter format. Meanwhile, Sanju Samson has been praised for his role as a wicketkeeper-batter. Khanna also acknowledges the promising inclusion of Delhi's Harshit Rana, emphasizing his control and performance potential.
