The All India Tennis Association (AITA) finds itself in a state of confusion as the results from last year's elections remain undisclosed amid ongoing tensions. Rival factions within the national tennis federation have independently chosen team managers for the forthcoming Davis Cup against Switzerland, triggering a leadership conflict.
Despite conducting elections on September 28, 2024, the results are sealed by the Delhi High Court, following allegations from former players about non-compliance with the Sports Code, leading to a governance dispute within the AITA. Leadership changes, such as Anil Dhupar's removal and Sunder Iyer's interim appointment, have added to the controversy.
The newly enacted National Sports Governance Act 2025 might soon resolve matters, as internal debates continue over team management and constitutional interpretations. AITA President Anil Jain defends his authority amidst accusations of procedural violations, while questions regarding his eligibility for presidency have resurfaced.
