South Africa's emerging spin talent, Prenelan Subrayen, faces renewed scrutiny over his bowling action following the first ODI clash against Australia in Cairns. The International Cricket Council (ICC) raised concerns regarding the legality of the 31-year-old's technique, marking another chapter in a persistent challenge for Subrayen.

The ICC announced that Subrayen would undergo an Independent Assessment at an ICC Accredited Testing facility to verify the legality of his action. In the recent ODI, Subrayen, playing his debut, delivered a 1/46 performance over ten overs, contributing significantly to South Africa's 98-run victory, including dismissing batsman Travis Head.

Despite his promising debut, Subrayen's career has been marred by action scrutiny, dating back to 2012 when he first encountered issues with Cricket South Africa regarding arm extension limits. The upcoming matches on August 22 and August 24 could determine his future contributions to the series as assessments unfold.
