Star Indian weightlifter, Mirabai Chanu, stamped her authority once again at the Commonwealth Championships by clinching the gold medal with a record-setting performance on Monday.
The Tokyo Olympics silver medalist lifted a cumulative 193kg, shattering championship records in both snatch and clean and jerk in the 48kg category. Despite a hiatus due to injury, Chanu's gold-winning feat told tales of unmatched dedication.
Her only competition, the legend herself, Chanu managed to excel amidst discomfort in her right knee. She proved invincible, even when her softest lifts didn't succeed. Meanwhile, Malaysia's Irene Henry and Wales' Nikole Roberts took silver and bronze, respectively.
