Tom Pidcock, fresh from securing third place at the Vuelta a Espana, will spearhead a compact British team during the UCI road world championships in Rwanda this weekend. The 26-year-old Olympic mountain biking champion is competing for his inaugural road world title. Pidcock's performance promises to be compelling, given his recent podium finish.

This year's lineup includes Oscar Onley, who gained attention with an impressive fourth place in the Tour de France. The elite men's road race will present formidable challenges, featuring a 267km course with over 5,000 meters of climbing, making it one of the toughest in championship history.

Britain's contingent, comprising 25 riders across the Under-23 and junior categories, will not participate in the women's road race or the men's time trial. Olympic silver medalist Anna Henderson will compete in the women's time trial as the sole British representative. The championships, hosted for the first time in Africa, kick off in Kigali on Sunday, with both elite men's and women's time trials.
