In significant developments for India's cricketing structure, former players Rudra Pratap Singh and Pragyan Ojha are poised to become part of the national selection panel. This transition follows the departures of S Sharath and Subroto Banerjee from the current committee, led by Ajit Agarkar.

Regarded as one of the heroes behind India's triumph at the 2007 T20 World Cup, RP Singh is heralded for his impactful performances, including a stellar display in a Test series against England. Representing the Central Zone, Singh has been a stalwart in domestic cricket, contributing significantly to Uttar Pradesh and the Gujarat team that clinched the Ranji Trophy in 2016-17. He will be stepping into Subroto Banerjee's position.

From the southern region, Pragyan Ojha's appointment appears certain, as the left-arm spinner, renowned for his over 100 Test wickets, becomes the favored candidate. A source from the BCCI revealed to PTI, on condition of anonymity, that RP Singh and Ojha's names are expected to be ratified by the Cricket Advisory Committee prior to the BCCI's AGM.
