Luca Zidane, son of French soccer icon Zinedine Zidane, has been summoned by Algeria for its national squad as they edge closer to securing a place in the 2026 World Cup.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper, who previously played for France at the youth level, is eligible for Algeria through familial connections. Zidane, a past Real Madrid player, now plays for the Spanish second-division team Granada.

Algeria's coach, Vladimir Petkovic, has included Zidane in the squad for upcoming qualifiers against Somalia and Uganda. Algeria currently leads the group and is poised to qualify for the World Cup co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
