PM Modi Unveils State-of-the-Art Indoor Cricket Facilities in North East India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate state-of-the-art indoor cricket infrastructure in six North Eastern states, including Sikkim, during his upcoming visit. This initiative is part of a broader strategy by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to bolster cricket facilities in these regions.

The new Indoor Cricket Academy in Sikkim, with similar facilities in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Nagaland, aims to provide year-round training for local athletes. These efforts seek to compensate for the heavy rainfall that can restrict outdoor sports activities.

Built at a cost of approximately Rs 23 crore, the Sikkim facility features indoor practice pitches, a high-performance fitness center, a swimming pool, and modern player amenities. The cricket infrastructure initiative signals a promising advancement for the sport's development in the North Eastern region of India.
