The Telangana High Court has mandated the creation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by the CB-CID to probe suspected irregularities within the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). The decision came after a petition from Safilguda Cricket Club president C Sanjeev Reddy brought to light significant concerns. Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka has instructed the Director General of Police to appoint an officer of Additional Commissioner rank to lead the investigation.

According to court directives, the SIT is to register a case and initiate a detailed investigation into the HCA's administrative, managerial, and financial operations. Oversight by retired High Court judge P Naveen Rao is required to ensure transparency, especially considering the 'mess' attributed to vested interests.

The SIT is granted full discretion to review existing materials, including reports by former Supreme Court and High Court judges, and to gather new evidence as required. The findings follow allegations by the petitioner of recurring failures in the HCA's management and governance.
