Skipper Rishabh Pant Reflects After Super Over Heartbreak
Rishabh Pant, LSG skipper conceded their need for a break after a loss to KKR in a super over IPL match. Despite leading KKR to 93/7, Rinku Singh's rescue act pushed LSG to a Super Over defeat. Pant emphasized accountability and trust in team dynamics during pressure games.
In a gripping Indian Premier League clash, Lucknow Super Giants' captain Rishabh Pant admitted the team desperately needs a break. The team suffered a Super Over defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders, adding to their fifth consecutive loss, landing them at the bottom of the points table.
Despite having Kolkata pinned at 93/7, a stunning inning by Rinku Singh, remaining unbeaten at 83, turned the tide. Lucknow stumbled while chasing a target of 156, with Mohammed Shami's last-ball six barely forcing a Super Over. However, their Super Over performance, scoring the lowest ever at 1/2, sealed their fate.
Reflecting on the loss, Pant stressed the importance of accountability across the squad and trusting players under pressure, mentioning Nicholas Pooran's selection for the Super Over. He reiterated that a break could bring out positives. Meanwhile, KKR's Ajinkya Rahane praised the team's familiarity with the venue, crediting their previous encounters there for the strategic advantage.
