Kiwi Skipper Santner Sidelined by Shoulder Injury

Mitchell Santner, New Zealand's white-ball cricket captain, is facing a month-long hiatus from the sport due to a severe ACL shoulder injury. The setback occurred during an IPL match while fielding for the Chennai Super Kings on April 23.

After returning to New Zealand, Santner consulted a specialist, and New Zealand Cricket confirmed a mandatory month of rest and rehabilitation. This injury sidelines the 34-year-old spin-bowling all-rounder from the forthcoming Test against Ireland and raises questions about his participation in the England Test series.

The one-off Test against Ireland will take place in Belfast starting May 27, whereas the Tests against England are scheduled at Lord's, The Oval, and Trent Bridge in June. Santner's status for the England series will be reassessed at a later date.
