Athletics Federation of India Enforces Strict Participation Rules
The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has warned athletes that failure to show up at the National Senior Athletics Federation Cup without valid reasons will result in a ban from future events. The AFI aims to ensure fair competition and is implementing rules for previously suspended athletes seeking reentry.
The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has issued a stern directive aimed at ensuring athlete participation in the upcoming National Senior Athletics Federation Cup in Ranchi from May 22-25. Athletes who fail to attend without a valid reason after confirming their entry risk being barred from future competitions.
In recent years, the AFI has encountered the challenge of athletes registering for events but not showing up, often due to concerns over potential anti-doping tests or other unspecified reasons. To combat this, the Federation insists on prior participation in two AFI-organized events within the year for entry eligibility.
Furthermore, athletes who have completed sanctioned suspensions are permitted to submit proof of prior performances for National Championship qualification. This ensures past bona fide performances are acknowledged, provided they are within one year before the suspension. Post-ineligibility performances will count towards future participations.
