India's 18-year-old tennis prodigy, Manas Dhamne, showcased remarkable skill and composure in his first ATP Challenger final against Buvaysar Gadamauri. Although he lost the match 6-7(8), 4-6, the experience is set to catapult him into the top-400 global rankings, underscoring a breakthrough week in his career.
In a valiant debut at the ATP Challenger singles final, India's teenage tennis prodigy Manas Dhamne was narrowly defeated by Belgium's Buvaysar Gadamauri in Shymkent, Kazakhstan. Dhamne's spirited performance captivated audiences, as the 18-year-old extended the match into a nail-biting tiebreaker in the first set.
Despite having set points against the experienced Gadamauri, Dhamne was edged out 10-8 in the tiebreak. The closely-fought battle shifted momentum in the second set, where the Belgian clinched victory 6-7(8), 4-6, thanks to a critical break.
Notwithstanding the defeat, the tournament marked a milestone for Dhamne, as he is slated to enter the top-400 rankings for the first time in his career, highlighting his significant progress in the tennis world.
