SAI Boosts Indian Weightlifters: International Exposure & Coaching Camps
The Sports Authority of India invests nearly Rs 1.95 crore for international exposure and national coaching camps aimed at preparing weightlifters for the Commonwealth and Asian Games. The Asian Senior Weightlifting Championships and parallel elite national coaching camps are key in developing promising athletes for upcoming major international events.
The Sports Authority of India (SAI) has announced an investment of nearly Rs 1.95 crore to provide international exposure and organize extensive national coaching camps for Indian weightlifters. This effort is intended to prepare athletes for the Commonwealth and Asian Games this year.
The Asian Senior Weightlifting Championships, held in Gandhinagar, sees the participation of 22 athletes alongside coaches, support staff, and referees, all supported by a Rs 70.45 lakh government sanction. Notably, promising Khelo India athletes are looking to make their mark in this competition.
SAI has also approved two elite national coaching camps that will run until late August. These camps, taking place in Modinagar and Patiala, aim to groom senior lifters for upcoming international competitions through continuous training, recovery management, and technical monitoring.
