The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the creation of an Election Commission tasked with supervising the 2026 Board of Directors election. This new commission, comprised of three members, will ensure the electoral process adheres to the board's regulations, as confirmed in a media release from Dhaka on Wednesday.

Senior Advocate Ahsanul Karim, of the Bangladesh Supreme Court, has been appointed as Chief Election Commissioner. Other commission members include Md. Israil Hawlader, the Gazipur Metropolitan Police's Police Commissioner, and A. B. M. Ehsanul Mamun, a Deputy Secretary at the National Sports Council. Their roles will be pivotal in managing the election's administrative and procedural elements.

Meanwhile, a governmental committee has been formed to probe the reasons behind Bangladesh's decision to withdraw from the T20 World Cup in India. Led by Dr. AKM Oli Ullah, the committee will assess potential diplomatic or strategic oversights. The BCB had voiced security concerns regarding India, requesting match relocations to Sri Lanka, which the ICC denied due to a lack of credible threats. As a result, Scotland replaced Bangladesh in the tournament, sparking this formal inquiry.
