Liam Dawson, the renowned all-rounder, has announced his retirement from First-Class cricket, wrapping up a stellar career with Hampshire County Cricket Club and the England national team. Despite leaving the red-ball format, the 36-year-old plans to continue participating in Hampshire's Vitality Blast and One Day Cup campaigns, as mentioned on the Hampshire website.
During his distinguished career, Dawson played more than 200 red-ball matches for Hampshire, amassing over 10,000 runs and taking more than 350 wickets. He donned the England Test cap four times, making a memorable debut in India with an unbeaten 66 and taking eight wickets, including a striking dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal upon his 2025 return.
Expressing his decision, Dawson shared, "Retiring from First-Class cricket has been a difficult choice, but I believe it's best for my white-ball career. I'm proud of my 200-plus matches for Hampshire and will always cherish the memories made. I remain committed to white-ball cricket and look forward to future successes at the Utility Bowl." His accomplishments in 2024 earned him the PCA Men's Player of the Year and he was also named one of Wisden's Five Cricketers of the Year.
