PR Sreejesh, former India goalkeeper and junior men's team coach, has publicly criticized Hockey India's decision to replace him after a fruitful tenure. His removal, after just 17 months despite winning five medals, raises questions about the national body's hiring preferences.

Sreejesh took to social media, challenging Hockey India's apparent favoritism towards foreign coaches. He expressed disappointment over being replaced in favor of overseas expertise, despite his impressive record securing podium finishes, including a Junior World Cup bronze medal.

Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey refuted claims of Sreejesh being 'fired', noting his term ended as per contract. Offering him a role in the development team, which Sreejesh declined, Tirkey emphasized the aim to develop Indian coaching talent and reiterated commitment to evolving homegrown expertise.
