Hemanth Muddappa Reclaims National Drag Racing Crown
Hemanth Muddappa of Mantra Racing is reinstated as the 2025 National Champion in the premier unrestricted class. This comes after the Indian Motor Sports Appeals Court overturned a previous decision, marking Muddappa's 18th National title and highlighting his successful collaboration with tuner Sharan Pratap.
Bengaluru's Hemanth Muddappa, representing Mantra Racing, has been reinstated as the 2025 National Champion in the premier unrestricted class. This decision was announced by the Indian Motor Sports Appeals Court (IMSAC), overturning a previous ruling that had cost Muddappa the title after the last rounds held in December.
The rectified decision affirms Muddappa's victory in the championship-clinching round at the Madras International Circuit. It re-establishes him as the most decorated two-wheeler champion in Indian motorsport history, securing his 18th National title. His enduring alliance with veteran tuner, Sharan Pratap, has been a cornerstone of his success, culminating in a record number of national wins.
The controversy emerged from claims of a jump start during the crucial Unrestricted category final run. Muddappa disputed any movement of his motorcycle, and his persistence in seeking justice has now been vindicated. "Justice has prevailed, and I thank IMSAC for standing by what's right," Muddappa stated after the ruling.
