Injury Woes for U.S. Soccer: Key Players in Doubt Ahead of World Cup
U.S. soccer players Brenden Aaronson and Chris Richards encountered injuries during Premier League matches, causing potential concerns ahead of the World Cup. Aaronson suffered a knee injury, while Richards had an ankle issue. Both are vying for a spot in the squad to be announced on May 26.
U.S. forward Brenden Aaronson left the pitch with a suspected left knee injury during Leeds' Premier League match on Sunday, casting doubts over his availability for the World Cup. The incident, which took place against Brighton, saw Aaronson replaced in the 59th minute, raising concerns among the U.S. squad, which is soon to assemble in Fayetteville.
Meanwhile, another setback for U.S. coach Mauricio Pochettino emerged as Chris Richards of Crystal Palace finished the club's 2-2 draw with Brentford nursing a left ankle issue. Richards, substituted on in the 61st minute, completed the match but required assistance and was visibly uncomfortable post-game.
As the World Cup squad announcement approaches on May 26, these injuries pose significant challenges for Pochettino, with training scheduled to commence the following day.
