Rajesh Dhar, a veteran cricket administrator, coach and manager from Jammu and Kashmir, has been appointed manager of the India men's cricket team for the upcoming one-off Test and ODI series against Afghanistan.
The tour will begin with the Test match at Maharaja Yadavindra International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, from June 6 to 10, followed by the three-match ODI series from June 13 in Dharamsala, Lucknow and Chennai.
A respected physical educationist and BCCI Level-I certified coach, Dhar has served the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) in various capacities, including manager of the Ranji Trophy team, senior women's side manager, U-23 men's squad manager, U-19 coach and assistant coach of JKCA's Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy side.
Dhar is also serving as a physical education lecturer and cricket selector with the Department of Youth Services and Sports.
Expressing gratitude over the appointment, Dhar thanked the BCCI and said, 'It was a matter of immense pride to serve the national team.''.
He also expressed hope that more deserving candidates from Jammu and Kashmir would get opportunities at the national level in future.
