Egypt kicked off their World Cup preparations with a narrow 1-0 victory over Russia, courtesy of Mostafa Ziko's decisive header. The match saw star player Mohamed Salah resting, following a challenging weekend. Egypt will face Brazil next before their World Cup campaign starts against Belgium.
Egypt commenced their World Cup preparations with a slender 1-0 triumph over Russia in a friendly match held in Cairo. The absence of their star player, Mohamed Salah, didn't deter the team's performance as Mostafa Ziko's header in the 65th minute secured the win.
Salah, who arrived to join his squad on Wednesday following an emotional departure from Liverpool, was anticipated to sit out the match. Nevertheless, Egypt managed to impress, with Omar Marmoush in the starting lineup and a fit-again Ligue 1 defender Mohamed Abdelmoneim marking his return from long injury absence.
Up next, Egypt gears up for a friendly against Brazil in Cleveland on June 6, prior to launching their World Cup Group G campaign against Belgium in Seattle on June 15.
