Xiaomi's YU7 Sparks Consumer Complaints Over Long Wait Times
Xiaomi faces criticism after buyers of the new YU7 electric SUV are told to wait over a year for delivery, despite paying a non-refundable deposit. The company received over 240,000 orders soon after launch, leading to a consumer backlash and demands for transparency and potential refunds.

Xiaomi is under fire as customers of its YU7 electric sports utility vehicle express frustration over extensive delivery wait times, extending beyond a year. This comes after the company accumulated approximately 240,000 orders in just 18 hours post-launch.
The delay has provoked over 400 complaints on the Sina Black Cat consumer platform, highlighting issues with the app's failure to display estimated wait times prior to order confirmation. Concerns over potential additional costs due to an expiring EV tax exemption also surfaced.
Despite the backlash, Xiaomi has managed significant growth with its previous model, the SU7, consistently outselling Tesla's Model 3 in China. The company is striving to unseat Tesla's Model Y, currently China's top-selling SUV, with its competitively priced YU7.
