The U.S. defense firm Auterion is set to deliver 33,000 artificial intelligence (AI) guidance kits for Ukrainian drones, as part of a $50 million contract from the Pentagon, the company announced on Monday.

The kits are designed to enhance the targeting precision of manually-piloted strike drones, autonomously hitting targets up to a kilometer away. Meanwhile, Ukraine intends to purchase 4.5 million small First Person View drones by 2025, amidst efforts to counteract extensive signal jamming in the region.

According to Auterion CEO Lorenz Meier, this deployment significantly escalates the firm's contributions to Ukraine, increasing support tenfold compared to previous shipments of AI systems for drone guidance. Kyiv continues to explore advanced technologies to bolster its defense capabilities.
