On Wednesday, India marked a significant milestone in space cooperation through a collaborative effort with NASA, launching a groundbreaking $1.5 billion radar imaging satellite, named NISAR. This venture is the first of its kind between the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the U.S. space agency.
Launching from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at 1210 GMT, the NISAR satellite represents a landmark achievement, boosting India's profile in the realm of cost-effective and high-impact satellite missions.
Equipped with two advanced radar frequencies - NASA's L-band and ISRO's S-band, NISAR is designed to precisely track minuscule Earth surface changes, enhancing global capabilities in monitoring climate change and natural disasters.
