Telecom operator Vi announced the launch of its 5G services in four key cities of Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, and Vadodara. This expansion is part of Vi's broader strategy to roll out 5G connectivity across 23 cities, focusing on its 17 priority circles where it holds 5G spectrum licenses.
"Vi users in these Gujarat cities with 5G-enabled devices can access our 5G services starting July 31," said Gujarat Vodafone Idea Business Head Naveen Singhvi. He added that as an introductory offer, Vi is providing unlimited 5G data to users on plans starting from Rs 299. With expected download speeds of up to 25 Mbps, the new 5G network will significantly enhance experiences such as high-definition streaming, gaming, video conferencing, and faster downloads.
Singhvi emphasized the collaborative efforts with industry giants Nokia and Ericsson to ensure a superior 5G experience in Gujarat by deploying advanced, energy-efficient infrastructure and implementing AI-powered self-organising networks. Vi's 5G services will also go live in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nashik, Kozhikode, and Malappuram on July 31, adding to its presence in nine other cities including Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, and Bengaluru.
