Britain's media regulator, Ofcom, announced Thursday it is launching investigations into the compliance practices of four companies running a total of 34 pornography sites, in light of new age-check rules in the United Kingdom.

The regulator is examining whether 8579 LLC, AVS Group Ltd, Kick Online Entertainment S.A., and Trendio Ltd have implemented robust age verification checks to shield children from accessing pornographic content on their platforms.

These companies have been prioritised for scrutiny due to the potential harm of their services and the large user base they maintain, Ofcom stated in its announcement.
